For more than 50 minutes, Highland Park High School students sat transfixed in the school’s auditorium, learning about the basics behind writing and creating inspiration from someone who certainly knows a thing or two about it — young adult author Neal Shusterman.

The author of more than 30 books, many, if not most of them award-winning and best-sellers, spent his time at the school on March 11 answering students’ questions about his career and about his successful work over the past few decades.
